Hello
I'm Adam Duckworth

and I like to find the humanity in the technological world we live in

About Me

After years of experience in writing, web design, and public relations, I ventured into information technology and cybersecurity in 2021. From the start, I aimed to understand the technical jargon that had seemed mystifying and humanize it. I plan to bring an open approach to my work that will foster relatability, approachability, and curiosity.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry and a Master of Arts in Public Relations, graduating salutatorian with four Course Director Awards. My master’s thesis explored how religious organizations could use technology and social media for real-time engagement and community service, enhancing their ministerial efforts. I am currently pursuing my second Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity which I will obtain by the end of March 2024.

My work experience includes working with nonprofits, customer service, tech support, and press relations. For the past eight years, I’ve specialized in higher education, particularly in admissions and recruitment. At Full Sail University, I contributed to its growth to over 26,000 students across arts, entertainment, and technology programs.

I live in Orlando, Florida with my wife and two kids. In my spare time, I enjoy writing, playing an ungodly amount of Fallout 4, and filmmaking. My short films –  Exit Strategy and  Buy One Jesus, Get One Free – have both been shown at the Central Florida Film Festival with Exit Strategy also being shown at the Orlando Museum of Art as part of the Central Florida Film Slam.

Portfolio

An online security plan for SnowBe Online, a fictitious lifestyle brand centered on Winter/Summer active clothing. Created as a group project at Full Sail University with Yaseen Al-Azzawi and Jordan Bohling.

This policy establishes guidelines for managing, controlling, monitoring, and terminating physical access to SnowBe facilities with IT resources.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that all SnowBe employees and associated individuals with access to company data receive Information Security Awareness training to comprehend the significance of securing such data.

With the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework, I was able to identify CMMC practices that show security gaps that SnowBe would need to prioritize and address.

In another project for Full Sail University, I researched and performed a CIS controls and safeguards analysis on Luigi’s, Inc. – a fictional company suffering from a malware attack due to unauthorized access and lax cybersecurity.
